Since its founding in 1877, the TU Darmstadt has been characterised by a special pioneering spirit. Its self-made image has continued throughout our history with a tradition of innovation. Through outstanding achievements in research, teaching and transfer, we open up important scientific fields of the future and continuously open up new opportunities for social design. For this reason, TU Darmstadt is one of the leading technical universities in Germany with a high international visibility and reputation.
The Technical University is deeply rooted in the City of Science Darmstadt and has been closely intertwined with the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region for more than 140 years. This enriches society on many levels as TU Darmstadt attracts people from all over the world to study and research and is always open to dialogue, sharing knowledge, insights, stimulating leading debates and launching initiatives.
